Silver Beach is one of Bellingham, WA’s 24 officially recognized neighborhoods and the only one located on the shores of Lake Whatcom. There are approximately 1500 households in the neighborhood and over 3,300 residents. The neighborhood is primarily residential, but includes several small businesses and a wide variety of recreational opportunities. Silver Beach is a located on the eastern side of city and the north end of Lake Whatcom, which is officially recognized as a reservoir as it provides the drinking water for the City of Bellingham and some residents of Whatcom County – in all some approximately 90,000 people. The purpose of this website is to inform Association members, Silver Beach Neighbors and the general public about association activities as well as alert them to events, activities and issues that effect the neighborhood.
From Draft Minutes of January 10, 2011 City Council Meeting
Mayor Pike introduced a resolution during committee. “A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON TO DIRECT THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF ECOLOGY TO ISSUE AN EMERGENCY RULE CLOSING THE LAKE WHATCOM RESERVOIR WATERSHED TO NEW GROUNDWATER WITHDRAWALS.” SF / GK moved final approval of Resolution #2011-01. MOTION CARRIED 7-0.
