Silver Beach is almost entirely located in the Lake Whatcom Watershed.  Lake Whatcom is officially recognized as a reservoir as it provides the drinking water for the City of Bellingham and some residents of Whatcom County – in all some approximately 90,000 people,  Living in the Watershed provides both opportunities and challenges as we care for the quality of the  water while carrying on our daily activities.  The links to the right will provide you a variety of information including, among others, more information on the Lake’s quality, gardening in the Watershed, and ideas for daily activities that are Lake friendly.
